Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank

Hi Bundles supporters!  Given the current situation with COVID-19, Bundles of Hope is supporting our community more than ever!  Not only are we providing diapers and wipes to our usual list of 1,000+ families, but we are also receiving requests from new families needing help, either because they are not able to work right now or maybe they just can't find the size their baby needs because the store shelves are empty.  Obviously we cannot host any physical diaper drives at this time, so we are shifting temporarily to virtual diaper drives through online giving.  We will use this money to purchase diapers in bulk in the sizes people need, and then distribute them to the community.  I've included fundraising links below:

You can also do a texting campaign encouraging your contacts to text "GIVE" to 205-379-9109

Bundles of Hope provides basic needs, diapers and wipes, to 1000 families each month. They need our help as they carry out routine operations as well as participate in the COVID-19 relief efforts. Join me in supporting this awesome cause and TOGETHER we can share hope one bundle of diapers at a time!

We have also partnered with the COVID-19 testing facilities to supply families with kits that include diapers, wipes, formula, and period products.  Please consider donating and help us spread the word.  Every little bit helps!  Thank you so much!

Alabama Baptist Children’s Home

We are reaching out to our most loyal churches around town to let you know of an opportunity to help our family care moms in the coming weeks. As I hope you’ll remember, we have two Family Care homes in the Birmingham area (Family Care being our one year transitional housing and discipleship program for single moms and their children) that currently are serving 26 people combined. Almost all of our family care moms have lost their jobs and while we are so grateful that they don’t have to pay rent or utilities while they’re with us, they still have other needs to be met, with food being the most pressing one. We have the details of a food drop next week listed below. Before giving any details, I want to say again you guys have already done a lot for us, so please know that our feelings won’t be hurt if you or your members aren’t interested in this opportunity.

To combat the food shortage some of our moms are facing, we will have a drive thru drop off day next week, April 15 11am-2pm at our Birmingham office (2681 Rocky Ridge Lane Birmingham, AL 35216), for people to come drop off the following options:

  • Food, Specifically frozen meals or non perishable items

  • Gift cards (for restaurants, groceries, or even visa gift cards),

  • Toilet paper,

  • Paper towels,

  • HE laundry detergent,

  • Cleaning supplies, and/or

  • 13 gallon trash bags.

We have confirmed with Jefferson county public health and Hoover PD and have been assured that this food drive is acceptable and lawful under Governor Ivey’s mandate. If you have any questions or just want to talk processes, please give Jules, our volunteer coordinator who is overseeing all these efforts, a call at (864) 542-6755. She would be happy to help with any questions you might have, as would I. Thank you so much!

Gratefully,

Billy Shepard

King’s Home

8 Easy Ways to Help

1.      Donate financially. You can give via Venmo @kings-home and at https://www.kingshome.com/onlinegiving

2.      Clean out your closets and clutter then schedule a pickup from King’s Home. https://www.kingshome.com/pickup

3.      Purchase items from Prodigal Pottery so we can maintain employment and job training for our women. https://www.prodigalpottery.org/

4.      Support our King’s Home Thrift Stores. https://www.kingshome.com/thrift

5.      Sponsor a utility bill. We own 22 homes; you can help us keep everything running smoothly.  Email our office to coordinate: info@kingshome.com

6.      Follow us, like, and share our posts on social media.

§  Twitter: https://twitter.com/KingsHome_AL

§  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/KingsHome_AL/

7.      Sponsor a meal to be delivered to one of our homes. Up to E-I-G-H-T teenagers live in our youth homes and an average 40 moms and kids live in our women and children’s homes. You can order a meal to be delivered by GrubHub or Watir. Email our office to coordinate: info@kingshome.com

As far as prayer requests, I think our houseparents and those on the "front lines" with our youth / women and children need prayer for creativity, patience, cooperation, joy and peace. With all the residents home all day (8 youth per home) I can't imagine the "togetherness" everyone is experiencing.
