Mission Statement:  DOCC Next Step Student Ministry's purpose is to "make disciples" out of students.  Recognizing that parents are the primary spiritual leaders in students' lives, we desire to reinforce what students have learned and help them take the next step in their walk with God.

1st Step of Involvement

  • Next Step Services

    • Jr. High Next Step Service (grades 6-8)

      • Wednesday Nights 6:30PM - 7:40PM (building opens at 6PM)

    • Sr. High Next Step Service (grades 9-12)

      • Sunday Nights 6:30PM - 8:00PM (building opens at 6:00PM)

  • What can I expect at a Next Step service?

    • High Energy with games and fun.

    • Sincere Worship led by a student-led praise band.

    • Biblical Truth communicated in an easy to understand format.

    • Connected with parents by using "Textblasts" to keep them informed about the message of each service.

2nd Step of Involvement

  • Community Groups

    • 10:45AM - 11:55AM (building opens at 9AM)

  • What can I expect at a Student Ministry Community Group?

    • Biblical truth

Sunday mornings allow students to talk deeper about the topics discussed in the previous Next Step services.

    • Small Groups

      • Our Small Group Leaders encourage each student to engage in conversation with their peers and connect to one another.

3rd Step of Involvement

  • Ownership

    • We encourage students to not just “attend” church, but to “be the church."  By serving in the church body, students begin to take ownership in their church and are truly part of the DOCC faith family.

    • Examples of service opportunities for students:

      • Nursery, VBS, Welcome Team, Cleaning Up, Children’s Ministry, etc...

4th Step of Involvement

  • Friction -  for Sr. High Students

    • What is Friction?

    • Friction is a discipleship/mentoring program to help students learn what it means to really follow Christ with their lives.

    • What can students expect from Friction?

      • Students must sign up to participate  They are placed in groups of  3-5  students of the same gender and age range.

      • Groups meet with their adult Friction leader once a week to study Scripture as well as hold each other accountable.

      • Each group will have an outing once a month which creates further bonding within the group.
