Welcome to the "Next Step" Student Ministry! It's easy for the life of any believer to become "routine" or "comfortable". Here at Double Oak Community Church, we want to challenge you to take the next step. We offer a place where students can truly get plugged in and be involved.
Growth
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
1 Peter 2:22-23
Because we are the church, we are called to live as Christ lived. Our goal is to train students and give them the oppurtunity to grow in their faith and share that faith with others. Bible study is key in the life of any child of God (both young and old). Because of this, we are adamant about training our students to not only believe, but to know why they believe. The Bible deals with all aspects of life and we desire to show students the truths which God intends for us to know.
Fellowship
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
Our youth group desires to not only let students "hang out" with each other, but we also desire for them to grow together. All believers need to be sharpened, which is why our church provides a place where students can be sharpened.
Service
But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Mark 10:43-45
If we follow the steps of Jesus, we will clearly see that He was a servant. He is the perfect example of putting others before yourself. In the same manner, God calls His children to be servants. We not only teach our students to live out a life of service, but we also provide them with opportunities to serve our community, our nation and our world.
